The Baptism of the Lord, January 13, 2019
We recall the baptism of Jesus and our own baptisms as we place our needs before the Lord.
- That the Church may not fail in its mission to call all people to baptism and to faith in Jesus. We pray to the Lord.
- That people throughout the world may reject godless ways and earthly desires and live temperately, justly, and devoutly as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of the Savior into our lives. We pray to the Lord.
- That those who live in the regions surrounding the place where Jesus was born and baptized may no longer hear gunfire but may be comforted, hear the tender voice of God, and see the glory of the Lord that has been revealed. We pray to the Lord.
- That the Father who claimed Jesus as his beloved Son, will bless us with mercy and grace as we strive to live our baptismal promises. We pray to the Lord.
- That those suffering from religious persecution, war, disasters, and loneliness may find safety, hope, and support through the prayers and actions of people and nations of good will. We pray to the Lord.
- That the sacrament of baptism will always be celebrated faithfully and reverently as the basis of the whole Christian life: the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit. We pray to the Lord.
- That the sacramental bond of unity constituted within baptism will draw all Christian demonimations together into one faith in Christ. We pray to the Lord.
- That Fr. Christopher will remain strong and be fortified against the injustice he is enduring by the grace of his own baptism and confidence that the Father is well pleased with his service as a priest to all the baptized. We pray to the Lord.
- That those who are fighting serious illness may not despair but will know that the Lord blesses his people with peace throughout their struggles. We pray to the Lord.
- That those who were baptized in our parishes and our family members who have passed on from life on Earth may inherit eternal life. We pray to the Lord.
- For our own intentions that we recall in silence…….. We pray to the Lord.
O God we ask that you send us your Holy Spirit that we might conform to your will as faithful followers of your Son. We offer our prayers to you through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Pray too for all those people affected by the government shutdown so they get paid for their work and can meet their bills now! Pray that our government will find that compromise is a good thing!
That Fr Christopher will hear from Rome and be reinstated to the position of Pastor he had before this unjust delay in his priestly ministry took place. ASAP. God bless him as he waits to hear …
