Twelfth Sunday of Ordinary Time, June 25, 2023
We offer our prayers to the Father, confident that in his great love, he will answer us.
- That Pope Francis’ health will continue to improve so that he may continue to speak in the light words that overcome darkness. We pray to the Lord.
- That those who promote activities designed to kill the body will turn away from their efforts knowing that they cannot kill the soul but must act in ways that preserve both body and soul. We pray to the Lord.
- That the lives of the poor and of those who suffer from war, violence, persecution, or hatred will be rescued from the power of the wicked. We pray to the Lord.
- That we will not succumb to cries of “Terror on every side” in our troubled world but will know that the Lord is with us, like a mighty champion, when we entrust our causes to him. We pray to the Lord.
- That sparrows may not fall to the ground, and that all birds of the air will thrive in their environments as signs of God’s love for his creation. We pray to the Lord.
- That we will have the courage to acknowledge Jesus before others knowing that we need not be afraid because of our worth in God’s eyes who protects us, even to the point of counting all our hairs. We pray to the Lord.
- That scientists will observe the universe with wonder, be inspired by a love for truth, and be awestruck by all that each fragment of the universe sets before them.[1] We pray to the Lord.
- That the Holy Spirit will fill us with his power and free us from our weakness, our selfishness, our complacency, and our pride so that we may savor the joy of the Gospel.[2] We pray to the Lord.
- That terrorist actions in Uganda that target children, shootings in our own schools, and all abuses of children will be universally condemned and eliminated by grace that inspires recognition of the value of human life and the rights of children to flourish. We pray to the Lord.
- That on this International Day of the Seafarer we may be grateful to those who provide us with food and resources from the oceans and resolve to support their efforts to protect the marine environment. We pray to the Lord.
- That those who are suffering from illness may seek God so that their hearts may revive with knowledge that he does not spurn those who are in bonds. We pray to the Lord.
- That friends, family members, and community members who have died will be received in heaven with great joy for all eternity. We pray to the Lord.
O God, we ask that in your unsurpassed kindness you will answer our pleas with your constant help. We make our prayers through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.
