Fourteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time, July 09, 2023
We offer our petitions to the Father asking that he may be revealed to us by the Son so that we may know him and his will.
- That Pope Francis be given health and wisdom so that he may lead the Church in showing all the world that Jesus is the just savior who has come for all of humanity. We pray to the Lord.
- That the warrior’s bow may be banished and peace may be proclaimed in Palestine, Israel, Ukraine, the nations of Africa, from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. We pray to the Lord.
- That all Christians will show the vitality of Baptism that unites us despite dangers faced in manifesting faith, participating in the Sunday Eucharist, caring for those discarded by society, or cherishing and promoting the gift of peace.[1] We pray to the Lord.
- That we will be pro-life through actions acknowledging that “poverty, inequalities, and lack of access to basic resources such as food, drinking water, health care, education, and housing are serious offenses to human dignity.”[2] We pray to the Lord.
- That we may be the little ones, not proclaiming ourselves to be among the wise and learned, so that we might hear and respond to the message of the Gospel. We pray to the Lord.
- That heat waves in the U.S., North Africa, and throughout the world that threaten lives and communities will subside and be dealt with by prudent policies that support the well-being of all humanity and our environment. We pray to the Lord.
- That we may find rest from our labors and peace from all that burdens us by taking the easy yoke of Jesus and learning from him. We pray to the Lord.
- That we will never tire of praying for peace as a help for those who suffer because “prayer is the meek force that protects and sustains the world.”[3] We pray to the Lord.
- That we may live by the Spirit and not according to the flesh so that we may have life. We pray to the Lord.
- That in these troubled times when we are tempted to see only struggles and difficulties, we may be people of hope, inspired by the Resurrection of your Son which brought light to the depths of darkness. We pray to the Lord.
- That those who are ill from heat stroke, contaminated water or air, cholera, or other maladies caused by environmental conditions may be helped by charitable organizations and individuals who care for their neighbors. We pray to the Lord.
- That our friends, family members, and community members who have died will know the Lord in heaven who is good to all and compassionate toward all his works. We pray to the Lord.
O God, we come to you confident that you know all our needs and answer them and these petitions according to your divine will. We make our prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.
