Third Sunday of Lent, March 3, 2024
We offer our prayers to the Father seeking the grade to live the commandments delivered by God to the Jewish people and to exemplify the two great commandments to love God above all and our neighbors as ourselves.
- That our practices of prayers, fasting, and almsgiving will be sources of grace that focus our lives, draw us closer to Jesus, and strengthen us to proclaim Christ crucified. We pray to the Lord.
- That this season of Lent will help the world to fast from its seemingly insatiable appetite for war, violence, and hatred. We pray to the Lord.
- That terrorist attacks against Catholics in Burkina Faso will end, that the priest and six brothers kidnapped in Haiti will be released, and that all people of faith will have the freedom to worship God in peace without fear. We pray to the Lord.
- That we will know the commandments not as burdensome rules but as principles that refresh the soul, lead us to lives of happiness, and enable us to better know and understand God. We pray to the Lord.
- That fundraising efforts will not turn our churches into marketplaces distracted from their mission to build communities of faith. We pray to the Lord.
- That our knowledge that Jesus was raised from the dead will lead us to believe the Scripture and the words Jesus has spoken. We pray to the Lord.
- That World Wildlife Day that is celebrated today will inspire appreciation for the many beautiful and varied forms of wild fauna and flora that grace our planet and reinforce determination to sustain biodiversity. We pray to the Lord.
- That those who risk their lives for the Gospel in various parts of the world will inflame the Church with their courage and missionary enthusiasm.[1] We pray to the Lord.
- That those who are recovering from surgery will heal quickly, be free from pain, and be restored to health. We pray to the Lord.
- That those who have died serving those afflicted by war, poverty, disease, or terrorism may be welcomed into the joy and eternal peace of heaven. We pray to the Lord.
O God, grant us the grace to observe your commandments as preparation for the celebration of the death and resurrection of your Son. We offer our prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.
