Fourth Sunday of Lent, Laetare Sunday, March 10, 2024
We offer our prayers to the Father on this Laetare Sunday knowing that God so loved the world that he gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him might have eternal life.
- That the Church will rejoice during this Lenten season as we turn away from sin and become united in living the message of the Gospel as we prepare for the great celebration of Easter. We pray to the Lord.
- That on this day of rejoicing in the midst of our Lenten penances, we will commit ourselves to live faithfully with hope and joy despite the many troubles we see in the world. We pray to the Lord.
- That the violence in Haiti will end and all nations in the Americas will seek peace that lifts up their citizens and brings life, security, and joy to their people. We pray to the Lord.
- That as he completes the eleventh year of his papacy, Pope Francis will be granted health, wisdom, and peace as he leads the Church to be a welcoming institution of charity, joy, patience, and faith. We pray to the Lord.
- That God will fill Catholic women religious with his Sprit while they bring his message of love and compassion to the world as shining examples of his truth and grace.[1] We pray to the Lord.
- That the leaders of Hamas and Israel will seek a genuine and long-lasting peace that will provide safety, security, and relief from suffering so that their people may live in a truly holy land. We pray to the Lord.
- That we will shun the darkness of evil and live the truth so that the light of Jesus may bathe us and the world in its glorious brilliance. We pray to the Lord.
- That we may fight against our pride which causes so much havoc and seek humility which brings us grace and salvation.[2] We pray to the Lord.
- That those who are starving from the ravages of war, parched lands, or food insecurity may be freed from their suffering due to indifference and apathy and will receive nourishment and refreshment that recognizes the value and importance of each human life. We pray to the Lord.
- That the sick among us and those who care for them may receive encouragement and support from friends and family as they work to overcome disease, discouragement, and depression. We pray to the Lord.
- That those Catholic sisters we have known who have taught us, guided us, and served as examples of commitment to faith and who are now at rest will not have perished but may have the eternal life granted to those who believe in Jesus. We pray to the Lord.
Heavenly Father, may your answer to our prayers guide us to the light which carries us through the challenges of our lives so that we may always rejoice in your love for us. We offer our prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.
