Weekly Prayers of the Faithful

Second Sunday of Easter Sunday, April 07, 2024

Second Sunday of Easter Sunday, April 07, 2024

With Easter joy, we come to the Father grateful for the love he has shown in the gift of his Son. We ask for his mercy as we present our needs with humility and faith.

  1. That the leaders of the Church may not confine themselves in fear to deliberations behind locked doors, but may proclaim the joy of the Resurrection to all people and draw them to Jesus.  We pray to the Lord.
  2. That Jesus may come into the midst of the hearts and minds of world leaders who plot strategies of war so that they will hear his words, “Peace be with you.”  We pray to the Lord.
  3. That we will renounce sin by availing ourselves to the sacrament of Penance knowing that sins forgiven there are truly and wholly forgiven.  We pray to the Lord.
  4. That those devastated by the earthquake in Taiwan, tornadoes in the Midwest, and severe weather that brings starvation and drought to impoverished nations will find relief through our prayers and efforts to overcome their suffering.  We pray to the Lord.
  5. That on this Divine Mercy Sunday we will know the Lord’s infinite and enduring mercy as we make our own gestures of mercy to those with whom we share grievances.  We pray to the Lord.
  6. That dengue, malaria, and the host of diseases transmitted by mosquitoes will be minimized by prudent reduction of breeding sites, community efforts, and vaccines so that suffering and sickness will be eliminated.  We pray to the Lord.
  7. That Catholic people may be of one heart and one mind, recognizing that our possessions are gifts from God to be generously shared so that no one will be needy.  We pray to the Lord.
  8. That we will keep the commandments of God, knowing them not to be burdensome, so that our faith may demonstrate the love of God overcoming the world beset with violence, fear, and hatred.  We pray to the Lord.
  9. That we may rejoice in the gift of the Eucharist and declare our belief in the presence of the Lord as we proclaim with St. Thomas, “My Lord and my God.” We pray to the Lord.
  10. That those trapped by depression and disease may know Jesus who breaks through barriers and offers them peace.  We pray to the Lord.
  11. That those who have died, and their families and friends, will know the promise of the Resurrection which gives life that can never be destroyed.  We pray to the Lord.

God our Father, we offer these prayers with gratitude for the blessings given to us through our Risen Savior, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you forever.   Amen.
