Fifth Sunday of Easter Sunday, April 28, 2024
We come to the Father asking he will prune and nourish our lives so that they may be sustained and flourish.
- That the Church will be blessed with leaders like Barnabas who foster unity among Christians and encourage people to accept those with different faith backgrounds. We pray to the Lord.
- That leaders of nations will understand that destroying the homes and communities of their neighbors will not lead healing of divisions but will seek love, not in word or speech, but in deed and truth. We pray to the Lord.
- That the Church facing political violence in Guatemala, China, Nigeria, and other parts of the world will find peace, be built up, and with the consolation of the Holy Spirit grow in numbers. We pray to the Lord.
- That we will please God by believing in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and loving one another just as he commanded us. We pray to the Lord.
- “That faith, hope and charity {will] help us follow Christ, guide our journey together toward holiness, and restore us, even when we fall.”[1] We pray to the Lord.
- That although we are pruned at various times in our lives, we will always cling to the vine that gives life and allows us to bear much fruit and become faithful disciples of Jesus. We pray to the Lord.
- That in observance of National Teacher Appreciation Day this Thursday, we will pray for those who teach and inspire our children and offer thanks to parents, coaches, and teachers who have taught us about the intricacies and beauty of creation. We pray to the Lord.
- That our Jewish brothers and sisters, ancestors in faith, may observe Passover with joy that they are the people of God’s covenant, with hope for peace in their communities, and with love for their neighbors. We pray to the Lord.
- That those whose life quality is pruned by cancer may cling to the vine that offers them hope for eternal life as they valiantly battle this terrible disease. We pray to the Lord.
- That those who have died from malnutrition and thirst will feast forever in the home of the vine grower at the eternal banquet of heaven. We pray to the Lord.
O God, may your answers to our prayers be the grace that flows from the true vine to sustain us, its branches, so that we may live according to your will and remain in you forever. We make our prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
