Weekly Prayers of the Faithful

Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, May 26, 2024

Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, May 26, 2024

Prompted by the Holy Spirit, we offer our prayers to the Father through his Son, Jesus.

  1. That Pope Francis will remain a strong leader of the Church who draws people together with his wisdom, compassion, and mercy so that many will seek baptism in the name of the three persons of the Holy Trinity. We pray to the Lord.
  2. That all people will choose creation over destruction, redemption over condemnation, and holiness over evil through the graces offered by the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  We pray to the Lord.
  3. That we may set aside the temptations of the world that clamor for our attention and instead follow Jesus, fixing in our hearts that the Lord is God in the heavens above and on earth below, and that there is no other.  We pray to the Lord.
  4. That knowledge that eleven disciples worshipped but still doubted will enable us to continue to follow Jesus while not letting our own uncertainties or reservations deter us from responding to his call.  We pray to the Lord.
  5. That Catholic people enduring persecution will testify to their faith through works of mercy and charity while promoting the harmony of social coexistence and the building of the common home.[1] We pray to the Lord
  6. That World Children’s Day, being celebrated in Rome this weekend, will renew all in the Church as children transmit the joy of believing in Jesus and hearing the Gospel.  We pray to the Lord.
  7. That World Children’s Day will spark determined and renewed efforts to protect children from war, violence, and exploitation so that they may seek and embrace opportunities to build a peaceful future.  We pray to the Lord.
  8. That religious and seminarians may grow in their vocations through human, pastoral, spiritual, and community formation so that they will be exemplary witnesses to the Gospel and to the presence and gifts of the Holy Trinity.[2]  We pray to the Lord.
  9. That graduating students will be inspired by the education they have received to embark on activities and opportunities that serve the well-being of humanity, strengthen bonds between all people, and testify to the presence of God in their lives.  We pray to the Lord.
  10. That our observation of Memorial Day will honor those who have given their lives for our country, bring comfort to those who have lost loved ones in war, and will strengthen the resolve of all nations to find peaceful resolutions to their disputes.  We pray to the Lord.
  11. That those suffering from illness, caring for the sick, or struggling with doubts about the future may be comforted by Jesus’ declaration that he is with us always, until the end of the age.  We pray to the Lord.
  12. That those in our community who have died may be welcomed into heaven as children of God and be glorified with Jesus for all eternity.  We pray to the Lord.

May our prayers be answered so that we will be emboldened to give glory to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirt through the actions of our lives.  We make these prayers through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.
