25th Sunday of Ordinary Time, September 22, 2024
We come to the Father united in prayer asking for the grace to serve all God’s people with love and humility.
- That through faith, fraternity, and compassion, the Gospel may enter every day, in a concrete way, into our lives, embracing and offering us the grace of Jesus, who died and rose again.[1] We pray to the Lord.
- That world leaders and those who control weapons will be guided away from war, conflicts, and self-interest in search of peace. We pray to the Lord.
- That Pope Francis will be guided by the Holy Spirit as he strives to promote service during his trip to Luxembourg and to encourage hope among the people of Belgium. We pray to the Lord.
- That we may shun jealousy and selfish ambition and, instead, embrace the wisdom from above that is pure, peaceable, gentle, compliant, sincere, and full of mercy. We pray to the Lord.
- That we will attain greatness through service to those in need. We pray to the Lord.
- That babies in the womb and newborns will be received in the name of Jesus with great joy and love by their parents and by supportive communities. We pray to the Lord.
- That residents of central and eastern Europe who have lost family, friends, and homes will receive assistance needed to overcome the floods so that they may rebuild their lives and communities. We pray to the Lord.
- That “medical science might soon be able to offer prospects for a cure for [Alzheimer’s] and that more appropriate action will be taken to support sufferers and their families.”[2] We pray to the Lord.
- That this year’s observance of the Season of Creation will lead to greater respect for creation, determination to use Earth’s resources wisely, and appreciation of the beauty of life, art, and all mankind’s creative endeavors. We pray to the Lord.
- That those who are suffering from malnutrition, excessive heat, or thirst may find relief due to efforts to provide nutrition and safe shelter for all people. We pray to the Lord.
- That those innocents who have died because wars have invaded the peace of their lives may find eternal peace in heaven. We pray to the Lord.
God, our Father, you call us to receive the small and the weak into our lives. May we see in them your Son, Jesus, and recognize their greatness. We make these prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.
