Weekly Prayers of the Faithful

15th Sunday in Ordinary Time July 13, 2025

15th Sunday in Ordinary Time July 13, 2025

We ask the Father this day for the grace and wisdom to be people of compassion and hope in our troubled world.

  1. “That the church will not grow complacent in her efforts as best possible to ensure the protection of children, vulnerable adults, and all people in our communities.”[1]  We pray to the Lord.
  2. “That this conflict-ridden world can heal and return to a period of relative calm, harmony, and tolerance”[2] through belief in hope and the fostering of mutual trust.  We pray to the Lord.
  3. That those who seek to establish peace between nations will be blessed with clear minds, steady spirits, and brave souls as they intervene between people ready to destroy one another.  We pray to the Lord.
  4. That we may turn to God with all our heart and in everything that we do so that his commands may not be mysterious or remote but something in our hearts that we may easily carry out.  We pray to the Lord.
  5. That we may have compassion — a deep yearning to address the needs of those who are being kicked to the side of the road by the powerful, the greedy, and the merciless — so that we will act for the dignity of all human beings.  We pray to the Lord.
  6. That we will be neighbors to the victims of poverty, displacement, violence, and hatred by treating them, and all people, with mercy.  We pray to the Lord.
  7. “That we might again learn how to discern, to know how to choose paths of life and to reject everything that leads us away from Christ and the Gospel.”[3]  We pray to the Lord.
  8. That those mourning the dead from the disastrous flooding in Texas will be consoled, overcome their grief, and find peace through our prayers and the grace of God’s gentle hand with them.  We pray to the Lord.
  9. That on this Sea Sunday, and throughout the year, seafarers and those who fish may be protected by Our Lady, Stella Maris, as they serve as pilgrims of hope, prophets of peace, and bridges even between enemy countries.[4] We pray to the Lord.
  10. That those in Palestine, Ukraine, and other warring nations whose lives, homes, and families have been torn apart will recover as people of good will insist on peace and an end to the senseless parade of bombs that seek only to destroy.  We pray to the Lord.
  11. That those suffering from dementia and those who care for them will be encouraged in their struggles through our prayer, kindness, and understanding.  We pray to the Lord.
  12. That those who have died in rescue operations, caring for the downtrodden, or seeking to build peace in their neighborhoods will rest in the arms of Jesus for all eternity.  We pray to the Lord.

Heavenly Father, we ask that you answer our prayers so that we might have generous hearts and a willingness to come to the aid of those in need.  We offer these prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.
