26th Sunday in Ordinary Time, September 28, 2025
We offer our praise and prayers to the Father confident that his generous love will sustain us through all tribulations.
- That as the Church concludes the Season of Creation on Saturday, the feast day of St. Francis, may we “come together as one family, to labor for [Christ’s] peace, a shalom where all [God’s] people may dwell in safety and rest in quiet places.”[1] We pray to the Lord.
- That political and corporate leaders will “recognize that sometimes decisions are made more based on economics than on human dignity and human support” and make changes to those decisions in favor of mercy, compassion, and respect for life.[2] We pray to the Lord.
- Motivated by the International Day of Older Persons to be observed on Wednesday, communities will commit to strengthening care and support systems that ensure people can grow old with dignity and purpose. We pray to the Lord.
- That those in civil office whose mission is to defend our freedoms will act responsibly always seeking peace rather than war. We pray to the Lord.
- That we will be inspired to work “for the end of conflict and for the full restoration of broken relationships — with [God], with [people of all faiths], with the human family, and with all Creation.”[3] We pray to the Lord.
- That we will not be complacent, stretched comfortably on our couches, eating and drinking as we please but will be attentive to those who suffer and act to relieve the misery of those in pain. We pray to the Lord.
- That each day we will pursue righteousness, devotion, faith, love, patience, and gentleness, striving to counter sin and division, acting on our call as the people of God. We pray to the Lord.
- That we will not be insensitive to those who go without food and water and act to comfort those in poverty, insist on justice for those plagued by war, and support those who seek to provide aid to the hungry and homeless. We pray to the Lord.
- That we will be persuaded to act with charity, hope, and humility because Jesus has risen from the dead. We pray to the Lord.
- That as we conclude suicide prevention month, we will spread hope to the depressed and suffering, and spark meaningful action that supports those who are suffering from mental illness. We pray to the Lord.
- That those who have died from senseless violence will be received with joy into the eternal peace of heaven, and may that peace come to our world and root out hatred and sorrow. We pray to the Lord.
God, our Father, we are grateful you your answers to our prayers which raise us up when we are bowed down. We make these prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.
