29th Sunday in Ordinary Time, October 19, 2025
We offer our prayers to the Father that we may never tire of lifting our hearts and minds to God asking for mercy.
- That the participation of religious men and women in the Jubilee of Hope will encourage renewal and a deeper connection to faith, and may their service as witnesses of love and hope in the margins of society be a beacon of hope to the world.[1] We pray to the Lord.
- That the people of Gaza and Israel will know peace not merely as an absence of bombs and destruction but as an atmosphere of adequate food, water, and shelter; an environment where children thrive and attend school; an economy that provides jobs; and an overarching respect for all human life. We pray to the Lord.
- That world leaders and all who are in positions of power will not seek accolades for themselves but will serve humbly, striving to uplift their constituencies and all people. We pray to the Lord.
- That we will know justice to be “indispensable, both for the orderly development of society and as a cardinal virtue that inspires and guides the conscience of every man and woman.”[2] We pray to the Lord.
- That those in the legal profession will raise the plane of political and social discussion in our nation, remold our political discourse, and embrace the deep calling to bring hope.[3] We pray to the Lord.
- That the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty observed this past Friday will achieve its goal of ending social and institutional maltreatment by ensuring respect and effective support for families so that they may stay together, thrive, and shape their own futures.[4] We pray to the Lord.
- That joining us in our own prayers, we may enjoy the support of friends like Aaron and Hur who supported Moses in keeping his hands raised up to God as we seek to win the battles against evil, poverty, war, and the challenges of our lives. We pray to the Lord.
- That we may know the Scripture as truly inspired by God and turn to it for teaching, for correction, and for training in righteousness so that as people belonging to God we may be equipped for every good work. We pray to the Lord.
- That we may obtain “the grace to recognize [God’s] humble and gentle presence, not to demand a life without trials, but to discover that every sorrow, if inhabited by love, can become a place of communion.”[5] We pray to the Lord.
- That the sick and suffering may come to “understand that sorrow and pain do not negate God’s promises but are instead ‘the very path by which God reveals the depths of His love.’”[6] We pray to the Lord.
- That our deceased friends and family will live forever in the peace and joy of heaven, and may they pray for us that we may live well on Earth and be with them one day for all eternity. We pray to the Lord.
God, our Father, may we persist in our prayers confident that we will be rewarded for our perseverance as were Moses and the widow who sought justice. We offer our prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.
